What have I done?????

I got a call last night that they needed someone to come work at the church.
And since I have no life, and am frequently bored to tears, I decided to go fill in.
It was…well…as much fun as a room full of rowdy, tired, snotty kids can be.

“Am I six yet?”

That is the question I got this morning, whispered into my ear.
“yes baby, you are six now.”
“YIPPPPIE!”
He is so excited about his birthday.
I simply cannot believe he is six.
And I also cannot believe I spent the better part of my morning smearing chocolate frosting onto 24 little cup cakes and stuffing 24 little gift bags [...]

Last night we had a little party for Brian’s mom and Rick for their birthday’s.
Ricky called it his “fake birthday”
But he still got presents.
shiny, new, fun presents.
And the best thing?  No annoying toys he won’t play with.
The boy seriously plays with very few toys.
Hot wheels and Thomas trains…that’s it.
That is all he likes.
And books…he looooves [...]

The smell of barbasol filled the air…

In my dining room today.
Why you ask?
Well…it’s sort of a long story.
Turns out Rick has trouble writing…who knew.
(I did..that’s who!)
Oh he can spell…he can spell third grade core words.
And he can form the letters just fine.
He just can’t hold a pencil correctly.
Correction: He can hold it correctly..he just has trouble doing it.

So this is what free time feels like?

I thought for sure that once the kids were all in school that I’d have some free time.
Time to relax and get things done.
I had visions of my house maintaining cleanliness for longer than a nanosecond.
I had fantasies about me…sitting in a starbucks, drinking a coffee, chilling to some smooth jazz music…and I don’t even [...]

A sad, sad day.

Something tells me that today will be a sad day for me.
I get the feeling that I am going to lose a very dear friend.
No…I’m not psychic.
My friend is groaning in pain over there in the kitchen.
Keeps making popping and moaning sounds.
And I fear it is on it’s way out.
Moving on to a better place.

what happens when you give a kid a camera..

Ever since I acquired my super-fantastic-awesome new camera, one of my very favorite pastimes is to turn the kids loose with my old fuji.
It’s always interesting to me what I find on the memory card when they are done.
It’s really nifty to see the world through their eyes.

But I’ve been up to my armpits in papers, packing lunches, doing laundry and filling out forms for sports.
So I have not had any time to reflect on my baby going to Kindergarten.
